Learning to scuba dive ~ 5 day course


5 Day Learn to dive course:    A total of 9 dives:   (4 training dives & 5 pleasure dives).

On this course you and experience the wonders of our Great Barrier Reef. Starting daily, this course includes 2 days of pool and theory work – during which time you arrange your own accommodation and meals. The following 3 days are spent at the Great Barrier Reef on the comfortable live aboard vessel the M.V. Kangaroo Explorer. They limit their overnight passenger numbers to 38 to ensure your comfort.

Five Day Course:

DAY 1 Free pick-up from city accommodation at 9.00am
9.15am - Theory lectures
11.30am - Lunch break and medical examination
1.00pm - Pool training
Return to your accommodation 4.30pm

DAY 2 Pick-up from city accommodation at 7.45am
8.15am - Pool training
11.30am - Lunch break
12.30am - Theory lectures
Return to your accommodation 4.30 pm

DAY 3 Free pick-up from city accommodation at 8.15am and and transeferec to M.V. Sunkist
10.30am - Arrival at the reef
11.00am - Lunch
12.30pm - 1st dive
2.30pm - Transfer to next dive site
4.00pm - 2nd dive
6.00pm - Dinner
7.00pm - Night dive

DAY 4 Wake-up call at 5.30am
6.00am - First dive of the day
7.00am - Breakfast
8.00am - 2nd dive
9.15am - Transfer to next dive site
11.00am - Lunch
12.30pm - 3rd dive
2.30pm - Transfer to next dive site
4.00pm - 4th dive of the day
6.00pm - Dinner
7.00pm - Night dive

DAY 5 Wake-up call at 5.30am
6.00am - First dive of the day
7.00am - Breakfast
8.00am - 2nd dive
9.15am - Transfer to next dive site
11.00am - Final Dive
12.00am - Lunch
2.30pm - Depart for Cairns on M.V. Sunkist
4.30pm - home

Additional Costs:

  • Dive Medical - paid directly to the course doctor - $50.00

  • EMC and Port charges (per day) - whilst you are on the reef - $15.00 each

  • 2 Passport sized photos - if you do not already have your own - $7.00

  • Book Deposit - refunded on return of your book - $50.00

    • Please note that the following conditions may prevent you from diving or gaining a medical clearance for a dive course:

  • asthma, epilepsy, diabetes
  • any heart or lung conditions
  • any major operations
  • some prescription medications.
